A Recap of 2021

So 2021 started off with two guest teachers from CT. One to teach Hip Hop and the other Contemporary style. The classes were very popular with the FS children. They were here in McGregor from February until June.

South African International Ballet Competition

July saw 7 children chosen to take part in the South African International Ballet Competition in CT. They had just 10 weeks to learn and perfect a Ballet dance and a Contemporary dance. The girls loved taking part in the competition. We stayed in CT for the whole week. The girls took part in Ballet classes every day. One of our Novices won a Scholarship for the Mzansi Ballet school Intensive training for one week in 2022. It was an amazing experience for all the girls.

During the time of the competition running alongside the rehearsals, a Documentary was being made about how the children came to perform in the competition. From a lite rural village to the big city stage. Watch out for this later in the year.

Gala Dinner…

October until Dec we were busy preparing for Annie the Musical. Also during that time, the Ballet Moms did a Fundraising Gala Dinner in McGregor village. They cooked for about 75 people, it was a huge success, a lot of work but a memorable enchanted evening it was.

November 17th was First Step’s 7th Birthday!

A trip to CT to see Milisa in a show on September 11th…

Annie the Musical

Then in December, the children performed Annie the Musical. It was a huge success. The children sang and danced their hearts out! It was also a fundraiser for FSBM.

Christmas Party!

Then we had our Christmas party. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus both came to the party to bring the children gifts. Water bottles with the FSB logo on, much needed during the summer months. Then we took a trip to the beach all 47 of us…later the following week we took the little ones to the park in Montagu for a picnic!

A beautiful tutu was donated to us from London!

A Film was made in McGregor about meditation and one of our girls was featured!

We achieved so much during 2021. Even with all the uncertainty around us, we had an incredible year.

Here’s looking forward to what 2022 brings for us.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year from all of us at FSBM!.
