April 2022 Highlights

Janet Lindup

At the beginning of April, we had the pleasure to invite Janet Lindup from Cape Town to create a new Ballet for the Senior girls. Janet came for two days and left us with an amazing new Ballet called “The Painting” which we will showcase at our up-and-coming Variety Show in July and possibly take it to Move Competition in September.

About Janet:

Janet was a principal ballerina with Capab and Cape Town City Ballet for 18 years. She danced lead roles in most of the Classic’s as well as in Balanchine Ballets and for guest choreographers. At the age of 16, Janet won a Silver medal at the Adeline Genee in London in 1980 and was a finalist in the Prix de Lauzanne, Switzerland in 1981.

Appreciation for Ennie

Our appreciation day for our Wardrobe lady and children’s helper Ennie McNeil.  We really appreciate everything Ennie does for FSBM. Not only does she keep the clothes clean every week, but she also looks after the children’s hair and general well-being. We love you Ennie!

Milisa Scholarship

Our fabulous Milisa Mathiso has been awarded a full scholarship to the Alonzo King Lines Ballet program in San Francisco, this June for three weeks. Good luck Milisa you deserve this amazing opportunity. We look forward to hearing all about it on your return!

International Dance Day!

On Friday the 29th we celebrated International dance day with the rest of the world! The date 29 April was chosen because it is the birthday of famous French dance artist Jean-Georges Noverre, who was born in 1727, a ballet master and a great reformer of dance. Just look at these fabulous dancers, learning how to become the great dancers of tomorrow!
