September News!

September came with huge excitement as we prepared to go to the MOVE Dance competition in Cape Town. The Senior girls had worked so hard on beautiful new pieces choreographed for them. For the new Ballet choreographed by Janet Lindup, a beautiful new Contemporary piece by Aviwe November.  Then we had an African piece by Lihle Mfene and lastly a new Hip Hop dance by Cleo Notcutt.  We rehearsed and rehearsed and were finally ready to go.

The girls achieved a Bronze status and 3 Silvers to go forward to the finals two weekends later. Then disaster struck our little village of McGregor. Floods came and washed away houses, animals and roads. So we were unable to go to the finals. The girls were all winners to me, they got great feedback from the judges so we were happy with that. People all around us are still struggling to get back to semi-normal. We keep them all in our prayers.

Before disaster struck we had our fabulous Dancer and Choreographer Aviwe November come to McGregor and teach a Contemporary class for all the girls, all ages. They absolutely loved it and we’ve invited Aviwe back once the roads are fixed.

At the end of September when the girls were meant to be in Cape Town, Miss Mary invited them to a sleepover to try and make their disappointment a little less.. we were also invited to swim and to dinner in the evening.

A great time was had by all!
