We are delighted to introduce our new teacher at First Step Ballet, Malindi.
With an impressive background in dance education and performance, Malindi brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion to our studio. She completed four years of professional training at the Waterfront Theatre School, earning a double major in Dance and Musical Theatre. During her studies, she developed a strong technical and performance foundation across a variety of dance styles.
Malindi holds ISTD Associate qualifications in Modern Theatre Dance and Street Dance, as well as an ISTD Associate Diploma in Imperial Classical Ballet. She has also completed her Advanced Performance Certificate through Trinity College London, further demonstrating her commitment to excellence in the performing arts.
Following her training, Malindi spent several years teaching in Cape Town, working within both examination-focused and competitive studio environments. This diverse experience has given her a well-rounded approach to dance education, enabling her to guide students pursuing formal examinations, performance opportunities, and competitive dance goals alike.
Her teaching philosophy centres on developing strong technical foundations through correct alignment, strength, and placement, while also nurturing musicality, artistry, and performance quality. Malindi believes that dance education extends beyond technique, helping young dancers build confidence, discipline, resilience, and a lifelong appreciation for the art form.
Most importantly, she is passionate about creating a supportive and encouraging classroom environment where every student feels valued and inspired to reach their full potential. Her dedication to each dancer’s growth, both as a performer and as an individual, makes her a wonderful addition to our First Step Ballet & Music family.
